Care for a game of chess anyone?
The history of chess spans some 1500 years. The earliest predecessors of this board game originated in India, before the 6th century AD. From India, the game spread to Persia and subsequently spread to Southern Europe.
on my "Dokra Chess board".
What is Dokra art?
Dokra is an ancient metal craft practiced in India, whose origin dates back to the Bronze age. Dokra art is revered all over the world for its primeval plainness and enthralling folk motifs. In this metal craft the craftsman firstly subcultures a wax model of the object he wants to make. Then he makes a mould of clay and pours molten metal into a hole in the mould, then the wax melts and the clay is broken away to bring out the metal object which is then smoothed and polished to perfection. This is also know as the lost wax procedure or “cire perdure”.
The perfect nook, for a game of chess.
Talking about relaxing, I'll be off next week for a vacation amidst the sun & sands; will come back with lots of photographs to share. Till then will miss all the action, here in blogosphere.
